The Army Family Action Plan (AFAP)is one of the Army's principle programs to ensure that well-being in the Army keeps paces with changing times. By give Soldiers (active-duty and reserve), civilian employees and Family members the opportunity to make input into and influence their own standards of living, the AFAP helps the Army attract and retain a well-qualified, high-caliber force, foster Soldier and family satisfaction, and stand up programs that encourage confident, self-sufficient Soldiers and Family members. It's a process that lets soldiers and families say what's working and what isn't - AND what they think will fix it. The AFAP: •Gives commanders a gauge to validate concerns and measure satisfaction. In the history of AFAP, 98 changes have been made to legislation, 141 policies and regulations have been revised, and 162 programs and services have been improved at the Department of the Army level. Some of the these issues include: Pay Increases, Military Savings Plan, Youth Initiatives, TRICARE for Life, Chiropractic Care for Active Duty, Household Goods Weight Allowance Increase for Junior Enlisted and much more. This program has also improved the quality of life here in Heidelberg: increased childcare services and hours, increased Child Adolescent Psychological Service (CAPS) staffing, School Liaison Officer, and much more. Who can participate in AFAP? ...take responsibility! AFAP offers you, as member of the Mannheim community, the opportunity to improve life at our installation and the Army. Above, you will find links to issue sheets and registration forms. Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity today, and get involved in AFAP. It's a process that works!
