Welcome to United States Army Garrison-Mannheim (USAG-M) Child, Youth and School Services Division (CYSS)

CYSS programs are based on availability, affordability and quality programming. We are here to enhance Army readiness through minimizing the stress between unit mission requirements and parental responsibilities. We care about you and your child and we are there when you need us.

The paradigm used for Early Childhood Education programming is largely child-centered education. Therefore, there is a focus on the importance of play. Play provides children with the opportunity to actively explore manipulate and interact with their environment. It encourages children to investigate, create discover and motivate them to take risk and add to their understanding of the world. It challenges children to achieve new levels of understanding of events, people and the environment by interacting with concrete materials. Youth paradigms are based on self help skills along with positive role models and affiliation with professional organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of America and National 4-H Council. These affiliations offer youth the opportunity to explore, grow and develop leadership skills and promote service to community.

Several programs are offered under the CYSS umbrella. The Monroe Street Child Development Center (CDC), School Age Services (SAS), Youth Program (YP) (Middle School and Teen), Youth Sports and Fitness, Family Child Care (FCC), School Liaison Officer (SLO), CYS Nurse/Nutrition Specialist and Child and Youth Liaison Education Outreach Services (CLEOS) program.
